French Fry Freakout?

If you’re a fan of fries, you might be worried about a rumor that the U.S. is facing a potato shortage. Unusually cold and wet weather did damage some potato crops in the northern U.S. and Canada this past fall. But experts say the spud shortfall wasn’t major enough to keep french fries off the menu in coming months. (Chip lovers, meanwhile, can also rest easy. The potatoes used to make those salty snacks are harvested earlier in the year and were out of the ground before the bad weather hit.)
